Imaginary Landscapes - Blue Ridge Mountain Paintings
In the Shade of Oaks
Encaustic 11"x14"- 2010
Giant oaks once grew in the meadows in the Shenandoah Valley. The color of dawn during certain times of the year is pale. Even distant ridges appear in contrast. Every season holds beauty and even subtle changes appear remarkable. The land takes hold and it is this quality that is the subject of these paintings.
Encaustic paintings and studies in color. Imaginary visions referencing atmospheric appearing mountains and valleys, vivid forests, dynamic rivers. Narrative paintings that are descriptive of the dynamic Blue Ridge Mountains and those qualities that make the Blue Ridge a study in color.
